Publication Ethics

The Jurnal Ilmu Sosial, Ekonomi dan Pendidikan is committed to maintaining high standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. This Publication Ethics statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

The journal is committed to following recognized principles of scholarly publishing ethics and handling ethical concerns fairly, objectively, and transparently.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts submitted to the journal meet appropriate standards of academic integrity. Authors must:

submit original scholarly work and properly acknowledge all sources used;
ensure that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal;
present research data, methods, results, and interpretations accurately and honestly;
avoid fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and inappropriate manipulation of data or findings;
appropriately cite and acknowledge the work and ideas of others;
ensure that all individuals listed as authors have made meaningful contributions to the work;
obtain the approval of all co-authors before submission and publication;
disclose relevant sources of funding and potential conflicts of interest;
obtain appropriate ethical approval, informed consent, or other permissions when required by the nature of the research; and
promptly inform the editor if a significant error or inaccuracy is identified in the submitted or published work.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of their manuscripts.

2. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the conception, design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the manuscript.

All listed authors should:

have contributed substantially to the work;
participate in drafting or critically revising the manuscript;
approve the final version of the manuscript; and
agree to be accountable for their contribution to the work.

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.

Practices such as guest authorship, honorary authorship, and ghost authorship are not acceptable.

3. Originality and Research Integrity

Authors must ensure that their work is original and that material taken from other sources is properly cited.

The journal does not tolerate research misconduct, including:

plagiarism;
fabrication or falsification of data;
manipulation or misrepresentation of research results;
duplicate or redundant publication;
inappropriate authorship;
citation manipulation; and
other practices that compromise the integrity of the scholarly record.

Similarity checking and detailed procedures concerning plagiarism are governed separately under the journal's Plagiarism Policy.

4. Multiple and Simultaneous Submissions

Authors must not submit substantially the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

A manuscript being considered by the Jurnal Ilmu Sosial, Ekonomi dan Pendidikan must not be under consideration elsewhere. Submitting the same or substantially similar work to multiple journals at the same time constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

5. Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants should be conducted in accordance with applicable ethical principles and institutional or national requirements.

Where applicable, authors should:

obtain approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board;
obtain informed consent from participants;
protect participants' privacy and confidentiality; and
clearly state relevant ethical approval or consent information in the manuscript.

When formal ethical approval is not required, authors should nevertheless ensure that the research has been conducted responsibly and respects the rights, dignity, privacy, and welfare of participants.

6. Data Integrity

Authors are responsible for ensuring that research data are collected, analyzed, presented, and reported accurately.

Fabrication, falsification, selective manipulation, or intentional misrepresentation of data is considered serious research misconduct.

Where appropriate, authors should retain relevant research data and make information regarding data availability accessible in accordance with the journal's Data Availability Statement.

7. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, personal, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research, review, or editorial decision.

Editors and reviewers should not participate in the evaluation of manuscripts where a significant conflict of interest may compromise, or appear to compromise, their objectivity.

Where necessary, manuscripts will be reassigned to another editor or reviewer to preserve the independence and fairness of the editorial process.

8. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an important role in maintaining the scientific quality of the journal. Reviewers are expected to:

evaluate manuscripts objectively and fairly;
provide constructive, clear, and academically justified comments;
maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and related information;
not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal advantage;
identify relevant published work that may not have been appropriately cited;
disclose potential conflicts of interest; and
decline a review invitation when they lack appropriate expertise or cannot complete the review within the requested period.

Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts based on their academic merit and should not allow personal, institutional, or other irrelevant considerations to influence their recommendations.

9. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring that editorial decisions are made fairly, independently, and based on academic considerations.

Editors should:

evaluate manuscripts based on their scholarly merit, relevance, originality, methodological quality, and contribution;
maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts;
ensure an appropriate and impartial peer review process;
avoid and disclose conflicts of interest;
protect the independence of editorial decisions;
respond appropriately to allegations of research or publication misconduct; and
take reasonable steps to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Editorial decisions must not be influenced by the author's nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, personal background, or other characteristics unrelated to the academic quality of the manuscript.

10. Responsibilities of the Publisher

Suria Academic Press, as the publisher of the Jurnal Ilmu Sosial, Ekonomi dan Pendidikan, supports the editorial independence and integrity of the journal.

The publisher is committed to:

supporting fair and transparent editorial practices;
respecting the independence of editorial decisions;
supporting appropriate action when publication misconduct is identified;
maintaining the accessibility and integrity of published scholarly content; and
ensuring that commercial or institutional considerations do not improperly influence editorial decisions.

The publisher works with the editorial team to maintain responsible scholarly publishing practices.

11. Handling Allegations of Misconduct

Any allegation of publication or research misconduct will be considered seriously and evaluated objectively.

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, the journal may:

request clarification or supporting information from the authors;
conduct further editorial investigation;
consult reviewers, institutions, or other relevant parties when appropriate;
suspend the editorial process while an investigation is ongoing;
reject the manuscript when misconduct is established; or
take appropriate post-publication action when an issue concerns an already published article.

Authors, reviewers, and other parties are expected to cooperate with reasonable requests for information during an investigation.

12. Corrections and Retractions

The journal is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. When significant errors or ethical problems are identified after publication, appropriate action may be taken, including the publication of a correction, retraction, or other editorial notice.

13. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on the academic quality, validity, originality, relevance, and contribution of submitted manuscripts.

Article processing charges, institutional relationships, partnerships, sponsorships, or other commercial considerations must not determine whether a manuscript is accepted or rejected.

The Editor-in-Chief and editorial team retain authority over editorial decisions in accordance with the journal's established policies.

14. Ethical Complaints and Concerns

Authors, reviewers, readers, or other parties who identify potential ethical concerns related to a submitted or published article may contact the journal's editorial office.

All complaints and concerns will be handled confidentially, fairly, and as promptly as reasonably possible. The journal may request supporting evidence or additional information when necessary to evaluate the matter appropriately.
