AI Policy

The Jurnal Ilmu Sosial, Ekonomi dan Pendidikan recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in academic research and scholarly writing. The journal permits the responsible use of such technologies while maintaining transparency, academic integrity, and human accountability.

Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted tools to support tasks such as language improvement, grammar correction, translation, or readability enhancement. However, AI tools must not replace the author's intellectual contribution, critical analysis, interpretation, or scholarly judgment.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of all content submitted to the journal.

AI and Authorship

AI tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the content, declare conflicts of interest, or fulfill the requirements of scholarly authorship.

Disclosure of AI Use

When generative AI has been used substantively in preparing a manuscript, analyzing data, generating research materials, or performing other research-related tasks, authors should transparently disclose its use in the manuscript, including the tool used and its purpose, where relevant.

Routine tools used solely for spelling, grammar, or basic language correction generally do not require disclosure.

Prohibited Uses

Authors must not use AI to:

• fabricate, falsify, or manipulate research data or findings;
• generate false or unverifiable references and citations;
• misrepresent AI-generated content as independently verified scholarly evidence; or
• compromise the confidentiality, privacy, or integrity of research materials.

AI in Peer Review and Editorial Process

Editors and reviewers must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Manuscripts or confidential unpublished materials should not be uploaded to external generative AI systems when doing so could compromise confidentiality, data protection, or intellectual property.

AI may assist limited administrative or language-related tasks, but editorial decisions and peer-review judgments must remain under human responsibility and oversight.
