Islamic Studies and Education Journal


1. Plagiarism Policy

Islamic Studies and Education Journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism. Manuscripts submitted to the journal will be screened using reputable plagiarism detection software before entering the review process.

The journal considers the following as plagiarism and unethical behavior:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, or figures without proper citation
  • Self-plagiarism or republishing one's own previously published work without disclosure
  • Submitting a paper simultaneously to multiple journals
  • Translating previously published work without attribution
  • Manipulating citations or referencing irrelevant sources ("citation padding")

Acceptable similarity index:

  • Overall similarity must not exceed 20%
  • Similarity in any single source should not exceed 5% (excluding references)

Authors found to violate ethical standards may face:

  • Immediate rejection of manuscript
  • Notification to authors’ institutions
  • Ban from future submissions

2. Peer Review Process

The journal implements a double-blind peer-review system to ensure fairness, objectivity, and academic integrity.

Review Stages

  1. Initial Screening (Editor-in-Chief):
    • Scope relevance
    • Adherence to journal template
    • Ethical compliance and plagiarism check
  2. Double-Blind Review:
    • Manuscript is sent to two reviewers with expertise in the relevant field
    • Reviewer identities remain anonymous to authors, and vice versa
    • Review duration: 2–4 weeks
  3. Editorial Decision:

Based on reviewer recommendations, decisions may include:

    • Accepted
    • Minor revision
    • Major revision
    • Rejected
  1. Revision Stage:

Authors must revise the manuscript according to reviewer comments and resubmit within the specified timeframe.

  1. Final Decision:

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision after verifying revisions and ensuring compliance with journal standards.

  1. Copyediting & Layout:

Accepted papers go through copyediting, formatting, and proofreading before publication.

Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate:

  • Originality of research
  • Clarity and coherence
  • Methodological rigor
  • Depth of analysis
  • Contribution to scholarship
  • Alignment with journal scope

3. Publication Frequency

Islamic Studies and Education Journal is published three times a year (triannual), with the following schedule:

·         Issue 1: January

·         Issue 2: June

·         Issue 3: December

The journal accepts submissions throughout the year, and manuscripts may be published online as “Early View” prior to their scheduled issue once they have passed peer review and finalized in production.


4. Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content under the principle that making research freely available promotes a greater global exchange of knowledge. All articles can be accessed, read, downloaded, distributed, and cited without restrictions.


5. Ethical Guidelines

The journal adheres to the principles established by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). All stakeholders—authors, editors, and reviewers—must follow ethical guidelines concerning:

  • Authorship and contribution transparency
  • Conflict of interest disclosure
  • Accurate reporting of research findings
  • Respect for human subjects (when applicable)
  • Prohibition of data fabrication/falsification

6. Withdrawal and Retraction Policy

Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors may request withdrawal before review. Withdrawal during review requires a formal letter from all authors. Unethical withdrawal may result in sanctions.

Retraction

Articles may be retracted for:

  • Proven plagiarism
  • Data manipulation
  • Ethical misconduct
  • Major errors invalidating conclusions

Retraction notices will be published transparent and permanently.
